The Environmental Policy of the Ministry of Transportation is founded on three basic principles:

  • Environmental feasibility of the transportation systems
  • Respect of the needs of environmental preservation
  • Sustainable development

MTF adopted programs to control the emission of pollutants from its vehicles by smoke reports.

Some of the successful initiatives taken to conform transportation with environmental preservation have been as follows: reduce emissions of particulate material to levels that avoid air contamination, control emissions of carbon dioxide to levels that comply with per capital values consistent with the internationally established targets, and control vehicle and traffic noise to levels that neither present health risk nor serious inconvenience.

Furthermore, maintenance is another important point for keeping up MTF's fleet as well as for collaborating with the environment. For this to be carried out, there is a team apt to meet all the fleet's preventive controls and make sure that all the vehicles can only circulate with the pollutant emission indexes within the levels permitted.
